Sanctuary of Grecchio, one of the four shrines of St. Francis around Rieti Valley. Here, Francis depicted the Christmas story with living figures to help the local farmers understand it. A small hamlet of Terni, on the border between the Terni basin and the Rieti plain, crossed by the Velino river, it gives its name to the homonymous waterfall. An almost obligatory passage if you are between Terni and Rieti

Nestled in the green woods of the province of Rieti, Lake Ventina is very small (its surface area is about 0.1 square kilometers) but very charming. It is located in the alluvial plain of the Conca Reatina and its maximum depth is 3.5 meters. It is possible to swim in it, but the lake is especially known for fishing.

Hamlet of Terni located on a small hill at 227 meters above sea level

Arrone takes its name from its founder, a Roman nobleman who settled in this area in the 9th century AD, building a wooden castle around which a village slowly grew. The current appearance is the medieval one still dominated by the castle, now in masonry, which stands at the top of the hill. Arrone is included in the list of the "Most beautiful villages in Italy" and is located within the Nera river park. The municipal area is suitable for various sporting activities such as cycling, hiking, rafting and rock climbing. Don't miss the local specialty: river prawn broth and trout fillet.

This is the place where St. Francis created the first crib of the Christian tradition. The Sanctuary stands in an exceptional position, clinging to the rock and with a unique view of the Rieti plain, nearby Greccio and the Terminillo massif. It can be visited every day and is open from 09.00 to 18.00. Whether you are a believer or not, it is highly suggestive to visit this place, especially during the Christmas period.
