Beautiful, idyllic mountain village... one of the oldest mountain villages in the Dolomites. Unfortunately a bit crowded.

The South Tyroleans call it Fane, and on hiking maps it is referred to as Fanealm or Fane Alm. The Italians call it Malga Fane. This always refers to the rustic alpine village above Mühlbach in the Valsertal, embedded in the spectacular mountain scenery of the Pfunderer Mountains. This is how you imagine a picture-book alpine pasture in the Alps! The Fane Alm consists of shingle-covered residential and hay huts, a small church and three alpine taverns on a lush green alpine meadow. The Fane Alm is rightly called the most beautiful alpine village in South Tyrol.

The Olpererhütte at 2389 meters offers an excellent overnight accommodation for climbing higher peaks. There are sleeping spaces for 5 people each and you need to bring sleeping bags. The hut also offers beautiful panoramic views of the surrounding peaks and the reservoir, making it an ideal starting point for hikes and mountain tours. The restaurant is also recommended and offers a diverse selection at reasonable prices. After a strenuous day in the mountains, you can enjoy delicious meals here and experience the cosiness of the hut.
