The Abbey of Santa Maria di Vezzolano, located in the hills of Monferrato, is a jewel of Romanesque-Gothic architecture. Dating back to the 12th century, it preserves medieval frescoes and a valuable carved pier, and is surrounded by an aura of history and spirituality.

If you go up from Gassino, along the Sp 97, you travel along a beautiful road with never excessive slopes, which winds through a beautiful countryside, even the traffic is not excessive. Very beautiful the view of the surrounding hills, suggestive the castle.

A not very long climb with sections in double figures. Very few cars pass by and this is very relaxing.

Built shortly after the proclamation of the unification of Italy, the Cavour canal was used to draw water from the Po near Chivasso for the irrigation of cultivated fields and in particular rice paddies. 83 kilometers long, it ends in Ticino in Novara. Its banks are mostly accessible by bicycle on a dirt road.

Canal that starts from Chivasso and ends on the Ticino (Galliate) Cycle path along the embankment for a good part, along the AIDA (upper Italy to cross) you pass along the canal from Chivasso for about ten km. and again shortly after Novara up to Ticino.
