Portoscuso is one of the fishing villages of Sardinia where traditional tuna fishing, the mattanza, is still practiced. It is worth visiting this small town whose history is a succession of people attracted by the fishing industry and who have left their mark on the territory. From the port of Portoscuso, you can also embark to reach the island of San Pietro.

The church of Santa Maria d'Itria is a religious building located near the tuna fishery of Portoscuso, in the province of Southern Sardinia. The original structure dates back to the mid-17th century; in the 20th century the bell tower was built.

400 years of history. Arches overlooking the sea, juniper beams, wooden portals, ancient vessels and a small church.

Capo Altano is a little gem. You can reach the promontory from the car park via the paved cycle path, and there are also many winding paths that pass over cliffs and through pine forests. In addition to the old bunkers, there is a brick arch which offers a great photo opportunity with the sea. The view is absolutely gorgeous, especially at sunset.

We got there at sunset coming from Gonnesa. One of the most beautiful sunsets seen on the island, and we also camped out for the night.

The Port of Portoscuso is located right in the center of the town, a few steps from restaurants, bars, shops and all necessities.

The Portoscuso tower is perched on a hill overlooking the small maritime centre, between the small cove of Ghinghetta and the cliffs of Porto Paleddu.
