The Basilica of Madonna di Tirano holds a special significance. A visit to Tirano is a must. For railway enthusiasts, it's a highlight of Tirano. The Bernina Railway trains pass across the church square in front of the basilica, providing a wonderful photo opportunity.

The basilica is located at the entrance to the Valposchiavo valley, which leads up to the Bernina Pass. Therefore, the trains to Switzerland depart directly behind the church.
