A well-researched history of World War I in this region. The 12 Battles of the Isonzo took place here. The result was well over 1 million dead and wounded on both sides, but many times more for the Italians. In the first 11 battles, the Italians failed to achieve their goal of breaking through to Trieste. In the 12th battle, the Austrians (supported by German troops) launched a surprise counterattack and drove the Italians back to the Piave River.

A historic town steeped in a rich warlike past, the town center, with its narrow streets, pubs, and shops, is charming. The nearby Napoleon Bridge and the Soca Gorge are the village's tourist attractions.

A classic historic bridge, very well preserved or renovated. Combined with the eroded gorge and the emerald-colored waters of the Soca, the bridge's value increases. All in all, it's a free tourist attraction.

A historic classic, like many other mountain villages in this area. On a small platform stands a church with a solitary steeple and a memorial to the fallen of both World Wars. Rating: definitely worth seeing!
