The hydroelectric plant of the Tusciano River is among the first plants built in Italy between the end of the 1800s and the beginning of the 1900s. Together with eight other plants, it forms the Nucleus Tusciano for the production of electricity.

The sanctuary of Santi Cosma e Damiano in Eboli was born in the twentieth century to replace the old church still in use located on the opposite side of the current sanctuary. The sanctuary was built because the other church was too small to contain all the people who came on pilgrimage both from the city where it stands today, Eboli, and from the neighboring cities, such as Battipaglia, Olevano sul Tusciano, Serre, Postiglione, Salerno but also from more distant cities such as Avellino, Caserta and Naples. The structure has a single but wide nave that continues up to the altar.
