In reality, the summit of Monte Corno, its highest point (1,383 m), is located just to the north, within the rock labyrinth; but here, the monument enjoys a panoramic position and is also visible from the plain. The monument, 26 meters high and composed of four intertwined concrete sails, was erected in 1970 in memory of the partisan fighting and roundups that took place in these areas during World War II.

The Bassano Refuge, a few steps from the Military Memorial, was built in 1896 by the Italian Alpine Club (Bassano section) as a "hut" to make it easier for members who went there on excursions to stop. During the Second World War the refuge was burned down. It was later reopened in 1949 after being restructured, enlarged and equipped with a large parking lot. Today the refuge is equipped with a restaurant seating around 250 with a panoramic view of the Venetian plain, a bar and a room for packed lunches.
