This small sanctuary in the mountains is dedicated to San Lorenzo, one of the early Christian martyrs from a time when Christianity was still strictly forbidden. Lawrence asked for three days, during which he distributed the church's wealth among the poor inhabitants of Rome and, after the agreed time, came to the emperor with the poor to present them to him as the treasure of the church. He was then tortured to death. Legend has it that he was roasted alive on a grill - this attribute can be seen in many depictions of Saint Lawrence - over coals. He is said to have been in good spirits and asked his executioner if he would turn him over. The memorial day of San Lorenzo/Saint Lawrence in the calendar of saints is August 10th.

Small, very well-kept bivouac, next to Bivio Italia

Contrary to the gradients given by Komoot, the road has an average of 7%. Harder in the first part, with some peaks at 13%. Softer last 6 km, despite a very short 17% wall. It can also be done with a road bike, but then on the plateau you have to take into account terrible asphalt.

Nice refuge, free grazing animals, extremely relaxing view, parking and possibility of eating at reasonable prices
