The Velletri - Terracina railway was inaugurated on May 27, 1892. The route started from Terracina and, passing under the Lepini and Ausoni mountains, reaches Velletri for a total of 80 km. This bridge served to connect the old Piperno station (Priverno since 1928) to that of Sonnino scalo.

Pisterzo is a small town in the province of Latina located in the mountainous area of the Ausoni and overlooking the Amaseno valley from which the Lepini Mountains rise, at 466 m a.s.l. A beautiful village of just over 80 inhabitants, made of stone with alleys and buildings not to be missed. Among the major attractions is the church of San Michele Arcangelo rebuilt in 1924 after the fire of 1921 that had completely destroyed it, stands on the belvedere and near the war memorial. There are also two buildings of medieval origin: the Gabrielli palace near the church and the Captain's palace which houses the civic administration.

On the right side of the road that leads from Prossedi to Amaseno, built on a bank of the Amaseno river is the Church of Santa Maria del Ponte. The church is opened twice a year: the first Sunday in September and the third Sunday in October on the occasion of a fair of various goods which has replaced the traditional cattle fair.

Located approximately halfway between the source of Capodacqua and the Amaseno river, the Tower was probably a military outpost, as well as a watchtower, located on a road that in the Middle Ages was widely used for travel from the sea to the hinterland and for the commercial exchanges of the populations of the area, perhaps also used as a post office by those who passed along the important trade route.

TEMPLE OF SAN RAFFAELE (year 1659) The small temple, in neoclassical style, dedicated to S. Raffaele (patron saint of pharmacists) and to the Most Holy Virgin, stands on the hill of the same name, immersed in the greenery of the park which dominates the town. Built in 1659 by the future Cardinal Carlo Camillo Massimo II, it has four brick pilasters on the main façade, surmounted by terracotta Corinthian capitals. On the sides there were originally two arches; the one on the right remains standing, with a shaped cornice. The interior, with a rectangular plan, is enriched with frescoes of exquisite workmanship, attributed to the school of Domenico Zampieri, known as Domenichino: "The Probatic Pool", "Tobias' Lunch", "Tobias, Tobiolo, the Virgin and the Angel". The epigraph placed on the counter-façade recalls the figure of the client, Patriarch of Jerusalem, Apostolic Clerical Waiter of Pope Innocent X and Alexander VII, and Apostolic Nuncio in Spain to King Philip V. The small temple, together with that of S. Maria della Pace, is characterized by the use of particular bricks, made in ancient times in the locality of La Fornace.
