The Santa Barbara refuge is located in the Etna Park, immersed in a suggestive landscape of woods and lava flows. Recently renovated, it has a fireplace with a wood reserve and can be used as a bivouac. It is an excellent starting point for excursions around the volcano.

Even in bad weather or under dark clouds, the trip up is worthwhile. The cable car takes you up to 1,900 meters. By the time we reached the top, the clouds had almost disappeared due to the wind.

The Rifugio Piano dei Grilli is a welcoming structure immersed in the Etna Park. It offers a warm and hospitable shelter, with an internal room where you can relax Often frequented on weekends, it has a small workshop corner for bicycles. The view of Etna from here is simply spectacular.

There is no equipped area. The cave is fenced off because it is an overhanging well. Good connection. The view of Etna and the crater of Monte Nero degli Zappini in the foreground is spectacular.

From the mountain station you can take beautiful hikes to various craters.
