Unfortunately, the alpine farm was closed when we visited. The drive up there by car is very adventurous but beautiful.

A town of about 670 inhabitants in the province of Como, Argegno is located on the left bank of Lake Como and is known for having, in its territory, the "most vertical" cableway in Italy. In order to connect Argegno to the hamlet of Pigra, in fact, this system reaches a maximum gradient of 95%.

Alpe di Colonno is the starting point for numerous excursions in the Alta Valle Intelvi, here there is also a beautiful refuge with an excellent view of Lake Como. You can reach Alpe di Colonno comfortably by car along a road that goes up from Pigra. Pay attention because it is not very wide, it could be inconvenient to meet a car coming from the opposite direction.

We wanted to get up with the cable car but our host said it is not very trustworthy (meaning the opening hours), so we tried and it wasn’t operating that day. You can get up with the car as well and we hiked to Monte Pasquella and Monte Sertore from there. I can only recommend. The views are amazing.

We wanted to take the cable car up, but according to the AirBnB host it is probably very unreliable. So we went by car and hiked further up from there. Nice little place. There are cats and pictures of cats everywhere. Great view of course.

A beautiful little place high above Lake Como. There is only one road up from SAN FIDELE. There is also a cable car that goes up from Argegno, but it is currently out of service. So I took the hiking trail down. But you can hike even higher from PIGRA, from where you have a great view of Lake Lugano, for example. There is also food and drink available. There are several restaurants. But be sure to check the opening times beforehand! I felt very comfortable here. Far away from the hustle and bustle and the view...a dream. 🥰
