Rocchetta Park, located between Martinella Road, Francesco Schianchi Street, and Cartiera Road, also in Vigatto, takes its name from a historical toponym. Rocchetta, or la Rocchetta, is the name given by the citizens of Vigatto to the area of the town between the current Cartiera Road (to the north), the former Vigatto paper mill (to the east), Martinella Road (to the west), and Villa Meli Lupi di Soragna (to the south).

The Church of San Pietro, also known as the Parish Church of Vigatto, is a Catholic place of worship with neoclassical architecture, located at Strada Martinella 279, opposite the "Palazzo" of Villa Meli Lupi, in Vigatto, a hamlet of Parma, in the province and diocese of Parma. It is the seat of a parish within the pastoral area of the city. HISTORY: The original building was probably constructed in the early Middle Ages and elevated to the status of a parish church around the 8th century, but was first mentioned in 1005 in the Ordo Archipresbiterorum Plebium commissioned by the Bishop of Parma, Sigefredo II. The Plebem S. Petri de Vicatuli was mentioned on May 26, 1111, in a diploma issued by Holy Roman Emperor Henry V of Franconia among the churches dependent on the Chapter of the Cathedral of Parma. In 1230, the only church dependent on the Plebis de Vigattulis was the Alberi chapel, as attested by the Capitulum seu Rotulus Decimarum of the diocese of Parma. In 1579, the church was in very poor condition, but was only plastered and repaired in 1685; in 1698, the high altar was rebuilt, while the building was restored in 1714. In 1722, the sacristy was raised during the consolidation of the vaults of the chapels on the north side; the following year, the clock was added to the bell tower, while in 1742 the place of worship was restored again. Beginning in 1779, the building was extensively modified in the Neoclassical style; by 1780, the choir and the top of the bell tower had been rebuilt; between 1787 and 1790, the chapel dedicated to Saint Anthony of Padua was added, following the closure of the south side entrance, and the two secondary entrances in the façade were opened; between 1792 and 1793, the main façade was completed, the nave was raised and decorated, and the rectory was renovated. In 1834, the church was restored, and in 1836, the interior mosaic floor was rebuilt. Other interventions included the high altar in 1845, the chapel dedicated to the Madonna del Pianto in 1856, and the flooring again in 1898. In 1930, the large churchyard was rearranged, with the demolition of the boundary wall. In 1937, the vaults and chapel of the baptistery were decorated with frescoes by the painters Latino and Renzo Barilli. The earthquake of November 9, 1983, damaged the building, which was structurally consolidated and the façade and interior restored. At the same time, the roof was rebuilt and the systems were redone; the work was completed in 1986. SOURCE and other information. https://it.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chiesa_di_San_Pietro_(Parma,_Vigatto)
