To reach Montecchio di Darfo, starting from Boario, you cross the so-called "Roman bridge." It is a scenic 24-meter, single-span bridge, built from blocks of granite and Simona stone in 1686, over the remains of an older bridge that connected the medieval castle on Monticolo to the opposite bank of the river. It has been recognized as a national monument.

This island in the middle of Lake Iseo is Europe's largest inland lake island. A detour is certainly worthwhile, but according to the notice at the shipping company's pier, crossing by bicycle is not permitted from March to September.

The old road along Lake Iseo, without cars, is a lovely drive. Tunnels provide variety and constantly interesting views. You can dive into the cool water almost anywhere. At one point, we even spotted a dice snake! This harmless member of its species can also be found on Lake Garda. Completely harmless to humans, according to the NABU (Nature and Biodiversity Conservation Union)!
