The tunnel provides optimal access for pedestrians and cyclists. A counting station at the lower exit of the tunnel confirms that the tunnel is very busy and therefore justifies its existence.

The Ammer Canal branches off from the Ammer between Unterjesingen and Tübingen

The Ammer River rises from several springs near Herrenberg-Haslach and flows through Tübingen into the Neckar. Its name comes from the Celtic word "amra," meaning "water." The Ammer River is approximately 22 km long and is known for its many mills, only a few of which are still in operation today.

Ammergasse isn't just called that; the Ammer River flows through here, and the entrances on the Ammer side can only be accessed via small bridges. It's an absolute eye-catcher.

From here you have a beautiful view of the Neckar, the castle and the entrance to the bicycle tunnel.
