PARISH CHURCH WITH ST. ANNA CHAPEL AND MORTUARY CHAPEL: The parish church of St. Stephen is a late Baroque building from 1792-96. It contains frescoes by Franz Altmutter, sculptures by Nißl, and an altarpiece by Martin Knoller, a student of the Baroque painter Paul Troger. The high altar and the two side altars are simple, austere columned structures. To the left of the church stairs stands a Gothic double chapel from the 15th century. The lower section serves as the mortuary chapel, and the upper section is the St. Anne Chapel. The mortuary chapel contains a fresco by Simon von Taisten. The St. Anne Chapel has a regular star vault with round keystones. This double chapel is one of the oldest buildings in the Puster Valley.
