This monastery is located in Val di Non, the largest valley in Trentino. The hermitage and pilgrimage site of San Romedio is one of the most interesting buildings of medieval Christian art in Trentino. The hermitage stands on a 70m high limestone rock and is made up of several churches and chapels that adapt to the shape of the rock. The oldest church was already built around the year 1000 on the tomb of San Romedio.

One of the longest and steepest funiculars in Europe and opened in 1903. The bright red Mendelbahn was modernized in the 80s and runs around 3 times an hour. It leads up to the Mendel Pass and is a great alternative for anyone who doesn't want to go up by car or bike.

From the Mendel Pass at an altitude of about 1,350 m, it goes south (marker no. 500). It goes through the forest on the Kalterer Berg, where there are many huts of the Eppaner and Kalterer. Past the Enzianhütte. The forest provides pleasant shade. After about 4 kilometers you will reach the Halbweghütte.
