Guardia is a charming and enchanting village that seems timeless: it captivates with its tranquil and harmonious atmosphere, the surrounding meadows, the views of the Rio Cavallo Valley, and the meticulous attention to detail. It owes its name to its original purpose: it was founded in the Middle Ages by a group of soldiers stationed to guard Beseno Castle, at the entrance to the valley, with the task of monitoring the road leading down from Folgaria. The village is said to have originated from this initial military presence. It is nicknamed "the painted village," a name derived from the multicolored murals visible on the walls of the houses, the result of six mural art exhibitions that the town hosted from 1988 to 2007. An open-air art gallery, with 35 frescoes that recount rural traditions, mountain work, and legends.
