Grinzane Cavour is a municipality in the Langhe area, in Piedmont. The name pays homage to Camillo Benso, Count of Cavour, who was mayor of Grinzane for 17 years. In Grinzane Cavour it is possible to visit the splendid medieval castle of Grinzane, still perfectly preserved.

The cathedral of San Lorenzo, commonly called the Cathedral of Alba, takes on the role of the main place of worship within the town of Alba, which also enjoys the nickname of "capital of the Langhe". On the occasion of a visit to the Piedmontese hills, recognized as a UNESCO heritage site, I highly recommend you contemplate the magnificence of this building. The streets and this square host important events, and a starred restaurant lends itself to delight your palate, offering an experience steeped in the historical and traditional essence of Piedmont. On the façade of the cathedral you will be able to spot the bas-reliefs of the symbols of the four evangelists that make up the initials of the city (angel, lion, ox, eagle).

Alba - sweet daydreams... Thunderstorm welcomes us to Alba. The air is cooled and purified especially for us after a long period of heat. Sinuses are stimulated by the specific sweet smell of chocolate spread. Welcome to the land of Nutella where Emperor Ferrero rules in his golden jacket. Alba is perhaps one of the most famous cities in the Piedmont. That has everything to do with Fiera del Tartufo Bianco. The white truffle fair that put Alba on the map for good. In addition to the white truffle, the city is also known for its hazelnuts. Ferrero's head office is located there. Who hasn't eaten Nutella chocolate spread as a child or still does? Our discovery of the city is already off to a smooth start. On the main shopping street 'Via Vittorio Emanuele', the hand remains on the clasp of the wallet and the credit card remains wrapped in its aluminum foil. After the heavy thunderstorm, the many fine enotecas and perfumeries once again fill the shopping street with their bouquets. Nice clothing stores are putting their clothing racks back on the front line of sales. Summer outfits bring color to the city in their own way. Fresh truffles stare at passers-by from behind secured glass. Shrewd salespeople gesture with their bag of tricks to sell their wares. They don't get much attention because Michele Ferrero gets all our attention in the Piazza Savona. But because of noisy machines that give the piazza a new look, we quickly return to the old city center. The sun breaks a new heat record in no time. In the shadows of an imposing palazzo we finally find the Cathedrale San Domenica. The 15th century house of worship cools the mind. A perfect moment to ask forgiveness in advance for the emerging urge to lust. The mind is strong but the heat has weakened the body and requires cooling in the form of an Aperol Spritz. The desire is stronger than ourselves. Seated on a terrace, staring at the glasses of Aperol, the glass eyes desirable... Ice cubes cool the flesh of the orange slices. The coolness shows itself on the outside. Delicious… until cauliflower clouds gather above our heads. The firmament darkened over Alba. Want to know how we fared? Getting to know Barbaresco During our morning visit to Neive, the village of Barbaresco 'La Torre di Barbaresco' came into our field of view from the old rampart. The wine village is tiny but definitely worth a visit. In the old center, which mainly consists of one street, you will find only a few restaurants and addresses where you can taste wine. This village owes its fame primarily to the beautiful wines that are produced here and also to the large and world-famous wine producer GAJA, which is located here. We were just too late for the lunch meeting with the vinologists from GAJA. Don't worry, we had our own top moment at 'La Torre di Barbaresco'. A small, old siege tower, which can be visited in a modern original way, triggers many tourists. An elevator takes you 30 meters higher to a spacious roof terrace. The beautiful views take every visitor to a higher atmosphere. A top experience to look forward to and enjoy. You can return via stairs. The mezzanine floors are designed as an educational space. You return to the ground floor instructive and full of wine knowledge. When we say goodbye, with a glass in hand, we waltz softly with Gaja Barbaresco and Gaja Barolo. Here too we leave tears of happiness and satisfaction in an empty glass. With a filled crate of fabulous Gaja wines, we continue through the vineyards in search of new pleasures. Be sure to get to know this apparently small wine village that is 'big' in the wine world. Experience spiritual and heavenly adventures for your body and mind here. Please note, never go alone and drink in moderation.

Experience La Morra in Piedmont La Morra is a medieval wine village in the UNESCO area. You drive zigzagging up the mountain past fields full of vines in the Langhe to this lovely village. The view is breathtaking. The best wineries and vineyards are located around the beautiful village. However, too many wineries to visit in one trip. To illustrate, even Julius Ceaser would have stopped here on his journey from France to taste the divine grape juice of La Morra. So for a first-class box of wine, go here. La Morra is derived from the word Mura, which means fence. The Benedictine monks used to use the area to keep animals. These city walls have been demolished over the centuries. However, remains are still visible. The noble Falletti family is one of the most influential families of the Langhe. In 1340 they bought the village from the King of Naples. On Via XX Settembre you will find Palazzo Falletti-Corder. Recognizable by the family coat of arms. The first Barolo is said to have been produced in the cellars of this impressive building. About 160 years ago, two lovers from this family planted a cedar tree on Collina (hill) Falletti, between the vineyards. As a symbol of their love that would live on in this way for generations to come.

The Cathedral of San Lorenzo is the fulcrum of the city of Alba, it is located on the main square, Piazza Risorgimento. If you look closely at the facade from left to right, you will notice 4 figures: an Angel, a Lion, an Ox and an Eagle, symbols of the four evangelists, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. Now take the initials of the 4 elements and join them; here you give life to the name of the city: ALBA.
