Beautiful tree-lined routes go round the perimeter of Pontcanna Fields

A tunnel of trees. This path will lead you towards Cardiff Pedal Power. They have a great cafe, camping and cycle hire.

Great place to capture some photos of the River Taff. Scenic all year round

Llandaff Cathedral is magnificent building nestled within the small community. There are also other historical buildings close by and it is worth a visit. Not from the city centre and the Taff Trail. Beautiful scenes in the autumn too as the leaves change colour.

Nice tree lined path and is a good way of moving westwards across the city.

Always a good place to stop for refreshments. It’s a popular pub and can be busy at times.

Nice easy flat ride. Can be busy with walkers and other cyclists, particularly on weekends. Early mornings are the best, with so much birdsong and wildlife. Take a moment to enjoy the view of the Weir, which usually has a row of gulls fishing on it.

A good natural ride some steep and challenging climbs, but a nice tarack.

This Weir is a wonderful home for birds as they wash their feet, and gossip about others' nests

The white noise from the crashing water makes this a perfect place to tune out of the world. Unique place!

A mixed bag, mainly due imo to how old this path is, its quite outdated, has many steep sections, crosses many busy roads and no one really has a clue how to best use it due to poor signage and dangerous entryways. But it gets you away from cars and that's usually worth it.

Exiting the Western arm of the Taff trail to join up with the eastern unpaved side, you are met with a steep drop off down a service tunnel. Cute stone arch bridge at the bottom and then another wall up to the Trevithick trail, though thankfully, you don't have to go all the way up. Having done a few of these valley cycle paths now, I can say this was the worst...so far.

the lower reservoir has a nice flat road next to it, a welcome relief after the lumpy roads that lead to it from either direction.

Cathedral Close winds its way through the grounds of Llandaff Cathedral, where you can take in the in the striking 12th century architecture. You can easily stop and explore the grounds, and be sure to visit the Old Bishop’s Palace, a medieval fortress located at the junction of Cathedral Close and High Street.

Pendoylan is a lovely village in the Vale of Glamorgan which has proudly been named Wales' Best Kept Village. With a high number of listed buildings, it’s home to the historic St. Cadoc’s Church and the popular Red Lion pub, which has great views over the Ely valley and beyond..

Pontcanna Fields is a stunning stretch of Grade II listed parkland. For cyclists, its standout feature is a perfectly straight, tree-lined avenue shaded by lime trees.
