At 826m above sea level, a lovely spot for a pleasant break. There's a small chapel, a drinking fountain, and a covered picnic table. There's also a first aid kit and a solar-powered cell phone charger.

Wonderful trail on the crests that is absolutely worth a visit. Incredible views of the entire Po Valley and the sea of La Spezia.

In the upper Parma torrent valley, on the slopes of the Apennine ridge and immersed in a landscape with Alpine features, the Tuscan-Emilian Apennine National Park renovated (in 2000 and 2008) an old shepherds' shelter, recovering the internal spaces and transforming it into a welcoming and quiet bivouac for hikers. It is a "managed" bivouac and therefore its use requires a reservation and the payment of a contribution to cover the costs of cleaning and maintenance of the premises. The Capanne di Badignana are located at about 1480 m above sea level, on the edge of a precious peat bog, one of the most beautiful stopping points in the upper Parma Valley. Born as a shelter for shepherds who used to lead their flocks to summer pasture in these areas, the Capanne currently house, in addition to the Bivouac, a shelter for the shepherd and a stable for the sheep. Immersed in the typical high mountain landscape characterized by wetlands surrounded by pastures alternating with beech woods, this bivouac is the ideal destination for those who intend to spend the night in the immediate vicinity of the ridge: located at the crossroads between the CAI 709 and 721 trails, the bivouac is a stopping point for those traveling the second stage of the Alta Via dei Parchi from Lago Santo Parmense to Prato Spilla and a logistical base for organizing multi-day treks along the endless and beautiful trails of the Alta Val Parma area.
