A pretty town in the Modena Apennines, Fanano is a tourist location where it is splendid to spend both winter and summer. The lakes Pratignano and Scaffaiolo, the hamlets of Fellicarolo, Lotta, Ospitale, Serrazzone, Trentino, Trignano and Canavare are located in the municipal territory and is the largest municipality in upper Frignano. Finally, Fanano is linked to the town of Fairbanks, following the emigration to Alaska of one of its citizens, the gold prospector Felice Pedroni, at the end of the nineteenth century.

The main inhabited center of the historical region of Frignano, Pavullo today has around 18,000 inhabitants and is the second largest municipality in the province of Modena. It boasts numerous hilly hamlets of great charm, such as Verica or Coscogno, but its center is also graceful and characteristic. Despite being bombed and mostly destroyed during the Second World War, in fact, Pavullo has been well rebuilt and the church of San Bartolomeo, patron saint of the town whose pilgrim statue is located outside the church itself, is worth a visit.

The Sanctuary of the Madonna della Neve is a place of worship located in the municipality of Frassinoro in the heart of the Modenese Apennines at just over 1,000 meters above sea level. According to tradition, the sanctuary was founded by French monks who invoked the Madonna of the “pierre qui vire” (stone that vaults) during a snowstorm.

Montefiorino is a small town in the province of Modena, known for being the center of the first Partisan Republic in the Second World War. The town is characterized by its imposing medieval fortress, which houses two museums dedicated to the Resistance and local history.
