The pass, actually just across the border, is the only way to get from the Monesi valley to the French side and the only cycle path.

Worthy of note here is the ancient Maro Castle, of which only four stones remain. In ancient times, along with the less ruined Prelà Castello, it guarded the Via del Sale. It is of enormous historical importance. The village is truly beautiful, and I recommend a bike tour. Also noteworthy are the Doria Palace and the beautiful church square.

Passing from Mount Frontè you will have to go down and push uphill for some stretches, but once you reach the altitude, you will be rewarded

The Tanarello pass rises on the border between Italy and France, at an altitude of 2,045 metres. It connects Val Roia in France with Val Tanaro in Italy. From here you can quickly reach Mount Tanarello and subsequently Mount Saccarello, one of the highest peaks in the area. The area offers dirt roads and trails, all great for running.
