Getting up here is challenging....but very rewarding, for the view and for the satisfaction of having pedaled among the olive trees in perfect solitude, listening to the rhythm of your breathing, with your legs pushing. Priceless emotions!!

I can only confirm what Roberta said. The dogs (I counted 5) are there all year round, but they make a lot of noise for nothing. I had my own dog with me and there was no stress. Treats helped, of course 😊. The descent is indeed very overgrown at the beginning. We had a few problems finding it at first, but after that it was no problem. Long trousers are definitely recommended though

bridge over the Impero river that ends at the end of the path from Conio to the path that leads to Borgomaro. A beautiful bridge with an equally beautiful little beach underneath, under the fresh branches. Worth it in summer, isolated, without people, perfect!

We also encountered the sheepdogs at Monte dei Prati. They came barking at us. We spoke to them calmly. Afterwards they wanted to be petted. I'm quite afraid of dogs, but it was OK. It's best to follow the rules of conduct. After this section, the path was quite overgrown with (thorny) bushes for a while. It is therefore advisable to wear long trousers in autumn. The path was generally clearly visible, but a bit adventurous. After about 20 minutes it was fine again...I think it's better in summer...

The 1,418 meters of the summit of Monte Grande allow a panoramic view of a good portion of the Ligurian Apennines. It is located between the Impero, Carpasina and Giara valleys and there is a cross and a clearing on which to rest. On September 5, 1944, Monte Grande was the scene of a great partisan victory against the German and fascist positions located on its summit.

Ponte di Conio. A beautiful Romanesque bridge with a single arch that connected the mule track to Conio with Borgomaro. Below is wonderful for a swim. What passes underneath is the Impero torrent

Worthy of note here is the ancient Maro Castle, of which only four stones remain. In ancient times, along with the less ruined Prelà Castello, it guarded the Via del Sale. It is of enormous historical importance. The village is truly beautiful, and I recommend a bike tour. Also noteworthy are the Doria Palace and the beautiful church square.
