Access is limited to 80 people per day. Book slots at https://www.parcosirentevelino.it/gole_celano.php. The sign is only very small and clearly written in English. Hiking boots are required; children under 8 are not permitted.

The hike through the gorge isn't entirely easy. There are shoulder-high, polished rocks to overcome. Combined with water, it's a challenging undertaking.

Excellent views of the old town of Celano, perched on a hilltop with its mighty castle, as well as the wide valley floor and surrounding mountain ranges. This viewpoint is located at approximately 960 m above sea level, at the highest point of a highly recommended trail with fantastic views between the old town above Celano and the Celano Gorge (see the corresponding hiking section).

This trail leads from the old town along streets past a church, climbing steeply through the newly built areas to the northeast, then takes a shortcut onto a barely discernible path that climbs steeply up the overgrown slope, before returning to a trail that continues up to a lookout point (separate hiking trail). This involves climbing an elevation of around 130 m (from 830 to 960 m). Hikers are rewarded along the entire trail with magnificent views of Celano, particularly the old town with its mighty castle perched on a hilltop, as well as views of the expansive valley floor and the surrounding mountain ranges. This trail is ideal for getting from the old town of Celano to the Celano Gorge, or vice versa, and thus serves as an alternative to the trail or road, which curves southeast around the mountains with only a slight incline at less than 800 m. However, it does involve climbing and descending over the mountain, 130 and 160 meters respectively. There is one route for the outward journey and the other for the return journey!

Quite big parking lot after a narrow road of a few kilometers. Panels with information & safety requirements. Avoid this trail in case of rain. It seems to be forbidden for children below 8.
