The bridge connects Germany and Luxembourg. It was named after Konrad Schubach. In 1952, Konrad Schubach became district administrator in Bitburg. There, in consultation with Minister-President Altmeier, he was tasked with establishing good relations with Luxembourg and the French occupiers. During this period, the German-Luxembourg Nature Park was created.
