Every time I pass by here, I wonder who takes so many spray cans so far into the forest to deface a shelter!

Gut Umschoß is beautifully situated, and the surroundings, including the house, are beautiful. However, I always drive past it, as there's a better place for a break after the descent further down.

The view is wonderful, and depending on which direction you're coming from, it's a real reward for the climb. The only thing missing is a little shade, and in summer the benches get very hot.

The Wahnbach Dam is located in Siegburg-Seligenthal and serves as a drinking water supply. The reservoir was opened in 1958 and is primarily fed by the Wahnbach stream. It has a dam as a barrier. Before the Wahnbach Dam was built, the current reservoir area housed the "Lüttersmühle" (Lutters Mill), the "Wahntaler Schweiz" (Wahntal Switzerland) inn, and two farms – "Hillenbach" and "Petershof," which stood on the site of the former Hoffnungsthaler Hütte (Hope's Valley Ironworks). The residents of these houses had to be relocated. At the inlet of the Wahnbach stream, where the current foredam stands, there was the "Herkenrather Mühle" (Herkenrath Mill) inn.
