A walk along the Wien River is definitely worthwhile. There's lots of interesting things to see.

The Hohenauer Wiese is a spacious, sunny clearing in the nature park, surrounded by old mixed forest. Here you can sit in the grass, listen to the buzzing of insects, and let your gaze wander across the open expanse. It's ideal as a relaxing rest stop during hikes, runs, or bike rides.

The Purgathofer Observatory in Klosterneuburg-Kierling, Austria, is the second largest private observatory in Europe. It is situated on a hill overlooking the vineyards of Klosterneuburg.

From the vineyards, you have a stunning view down to Klosterneuburg and its imposing abbey with its towers. Nestled between vines and slopes, the town lies at your feet, with the Danube Valley stretching out beyond. A perfect photo stop and a delightful moment on any tour through the vineyards.

The Aspern Bridge is an important link across the Danube Canal, connecting Vienna's city center with the Leopoldstadt district. Right next to it stands the Urania, a striking Art Nouveau building dating from 1909/1910, which houses a public observatory. The observatory has a combined refracting and reflecting telescope and regularly offers public stargazing sessions. The Urania was damaged during World War II but was later repaired. Together, the Aspern Bridge and the Urania form a distinctive ensemble on the Danube Canal and are among the area's characteristic landmarks.

Is it worth it 12 months a year?

Awesome trail with some (very) difficult sections. You'll need a lot of technical know-how and suspension travel to master the steep, rooty curves. This trail is therefore unfortunately not suitable for beginners. The new root trail replaces the old one, which is now closed. The explanation why can be found at the trailhead. Klosterneuburg Abbey is an Augustinian Canons Regular monastery with over 900 years of history, founded in 1114 by Margrave Leopold III, later canonized as the patron saint of Austria.
