The cycle path leads through the Lechaschau. The biotope has something of a primeval forest about it and impresses with its clear water. We were happy to stop there.

Lechausee / Weißenbach quarry lake Dive in and submerge: The small Lechausee near Weißenbach in the Reutte district is a freshwater dream for divers. The mountain lake fed by fresh springs, which is mainly known to the locals as the "Weißenbach quarry lake", only has a maximum depth of six metres, but impresses with incredible visibility. Most of the time it is up to 20 metres, and in good conditions you can see almost the entire lake and swim past bushes and stones decoratively covered in slime algae. The bottom structure with its wave-shaped formations also makes the lake interesting for diving. A diving permit is required. It is not only the underwater world that is fascinating here, but also the surrounding landscape, which is why the lake also delights those who want to keep their heads above water while swimming or just relax on the banks. The way the surrounding mountains are reflected on the water's surface is enchanting to see. Despite its shallow depth, the lake does not warm up very quickly even on hot summer days, so it takes some effort, especially for those who shiver or hesitate, to use the lake intensively for swimming. However, all visitors enjoy the blissful peace of this natural idyll without water slides, diving platforms and the rattling of motorboats, and people looking for relaxation particularly appreciate it. There is no lakeside buffet, but two romantic barbecue areas are available. The Lechausee is freely accessible all year round. Juniper tree Natural monument Common juniper The common juniper (Juniperus communis) is known primarily as a juniper bush. As a type of cypress, it is found primarily on dry, rather nutrient-poor, calcareous soils. The pungent leaves of the common juniper are needle-shaped and up to 15 mm long. The spherical, round fruits are berry cones. Initially greenish, they later turn blue-black and ripen in the 2nd year or even in the 3rd year after fertilization. Even in earlier times, people knew about its healing power, which is due to the essential oils and tannins in its fruits. Today, it is still often found next to graves as a "guardian". Popular belief says that it makes it easier for the souls of the deceased to pass into the afterlife. The common juniper is widespread in the dry pine forests on the Lech. Here it also occurs as a tree with a height of up to 8 m. In the rest of Tyrol, tree-shaped junipers are only known in three other locations. In 1960, these stands were declared a natural monument by the Tyrolean Nature Conservation Act (= a natural structure that should be preserved due to its rarity, uniqueness or beauty or because of its scientific, historical or cultural significance as well as because of the special character it gives to the landscape. If there is a public interest in this, the district administrative authority can declare a natural monument by notice. - Tyrolean Nature Conservation Act 2005) and placed under protection. Seldom have I seen such a "living" moor. The water surface shimmers blue, really impressive, a beautiful landscape.
