Really impressive in clear weather

Magnificent volcanic landscape with Mediterranean flair

A really deep, spectacular crater right on the GR 131 - Ruta de los Volcanos. Interesting to see what shapes the lava formed. You can take really great photos

You inevitably pass by here when you drive from Tazacorte to the El Pilar forest car park. It's worth stopping in any weather. Either you have a fantastic view of the Aridane Valley, or the rising clouds or the "cloud waterfalls" just leave you in awe! Simply great! You can also park your car there and start the hike to the volcano route towards the south.

Hard to believe, but it was only created in 1949. The explosion crater Hoyo Negro was formed during major earthquakes this year. This mainly emitted gases and ash. There was never any lava flow here. Still, more than impressive!

Pico Birigoyo is very exposed to the trade winds that sweep over the ridge. The practically 360° all-round view is simply phenomenal. It is worth watching the sunrise or sunset here. It's not too far to the parking lot at El Pilar.

No hikes are currently possible from the viewpoint due to potentially toxic vapors from the new volcano

The look into the crater is absolutely worthwhile - not only because of the play of colors of the different rocks. Finally, a word on the topic of hiking equipment: Mandatory due to the many lava/ash fields and differences in altitude!
