Gallien is located in the Waldviertel region! An absolutely cool location with very funny and friendly hosts. Several hiking trails lead through this beautiful valley.

In 1983, the Papstwarte near Doberndorf was opened. It was built on the occasion of the visit of Pope John Paul II. With a total of 119 steps, you reach a height of 24 meters - the tower itself is located at an altitude of 497 meters above sea level. It was designed by Robert Krapfenbauer, who was born in Rodingersdorf in 1923. Doberndorf belonged to Rodingersdorf until 1920 and the tower can be found in the middle of the forest about halfway between Doberndorf and Rodingersdorf - access by car is possible. The tower is not accessible as of September 2024. It is privately owned and cordoned off. It is currently not possible to say whether and when it will be open to the public again.

Hahnkreuz near Doberndorf It must have been around 1840 to 1850, it is said, that a musician froze to death here. The property owner at the time, Matthias Hengstberger, had therefore erected a cross at this point, which was re-erected in 1955 but destroyed again in 1976 by a lightning strike. But one did not let this force of nature get her down - the parts were painstakingly reassembled by the company Weidenauer from Horn and the cross was completely restored. At that time, in 1955, there was still a sacrificial box from whose donations a holy mass was read every year on All Souls' Day in the parish church in Rodingersdorf. The wayside shrine is called the Hahnkreuz because there is a rooster on the top of the tin roof.
