The Skutsje Museum in Earnewald is highly recommended. The Skutsje are the flat-bottomed boats typical of Friesland. With their shallow draft, they were particularly well-suited to the prevailing water conditions. In the museum, you can listen to audio information about many exhibits in several languages using a QR code. There's even a small cinema where you can choose from a few films. These aren't multilingual, but there are some great historical recordings. You can also tour a flat-bottomed boat.

At this location, situated in the northern part of Alde Feanen, you can see many ducks that come here to rest, forage, and breed. Nearby are extensive reed fields, where you can expect to see typical reed birds such as great reed warblers, reed buntings, and sedge warblers.
