7월 31, 2025, Triglav Summit and Aljaž Tower
The shortest path from mainland to Triglav mountain. It's not easy path. It is steep path with some climbing path at the end.

Triglav (translated as 'three-headed', Italian Monte Tricorno, German analogous to the Slovenian pronunciation also Triglau) is the highest peak in Slovenia and the Julian Alps at 2864 m. It lies in the centre of the Triglav National Park, which is named after it and is the only national park in the country.

Climb up Triglav from Koca na Dolicu. A via ferrata set is not really helpful because there are few safety options anyway. A climbing helmet is recommended due to the risk of falling rocks. The climb is not technically difficult (via ferrata grade A/B), the most critical are probably the crossings on scree - caution is advised here. Otherwise a very nice experience and a cool atmosphere at the summit

May 25, 2023. We went up the west route. Snow on the highest point KRN. We were not able to do the loop via the east Batognica route, too much snow and not equipped with crampons

Triglav is located in the north-west of Slovenia, not far from the border with Italy and is part of the Julian Alps (Julijske Alpe) chain, divided between Italy and Slovenia, of which it is the highest mountain: 2863 meters above sea level of the sea. There are countless ways to reach the top. Essentially, the ascent to Triglav can be approached from three different sides: from the Mojstrana area (Kransjka gora), from Pokljuka (Bled/Bohinj) or from Trenta (upper Soča valley). It is usually done in two days, with an overnight stay at altitude, the fittest even go from morning to evening (warning: regardless of where you decide to leave, doing the Triglav in one day necessarily involves a trip that exceeds 2000 m of altitude difference !!!) The final part to climb to the top is challenging and not to be underestimated. In particular, the ridge between Mali Triglav and Triglav can be impressive at times for those who suffer from vertigo. Maximum caution must be exercised. This final stretch is usually extremely “busy” between August and September.

1880m with a view of the national park, what more could you ask for?

One of the highest peaks in Slovenia, the fantastic view rewards the climb. As there is no shade on the path, caution is advised on very sunny and hot days. After rain, the path over meadows and stones can be slippery.

The highest peak in Slovenia. There are different routes to get there. In my case I took the Prague route and it was great. A small emergency hut stands on it, in which perhaps only 1 or 2 people can fit. The view is very beautiful.

Really a nice via ferrata. It should be noted that the path is very busy and therefore often jams. So be sure to leave very early and avoid the weekends. The climb is not dangerous because it is very well secured, but you should still be sure-footed and not afraid of heights.

Slemeva špica or Sleme is a 1911 m high mountain in the Julian Alps. It is known for its beautiful view, the stormy larch trees that turn yellow in autumn, the fairytale path among the pine trees and occasionally the small lakes at the top. It is a real paradise in the land of kekče, where we can really feel the beauty of our mountains. The path to Vršič is beautiful and offers views of our possible mountains. Then we park at the top of the Vršič pass, from where the ascent is not demanding and takes about 1h 15min. The trip is also suitable for families, but attention along the way (especially in the middle and upper part) is not superfluous. The path starts on the other side of the road from the parking lot, after the sun exposed and steeper part we reach the sign for Mala Mojstrovka on the left after 20-30 minutes, and we continue straight where the path lays and winds between rocks and pine trees. On the left we admire the wall of Mala Mojstrovka, and slowly we also see Jalovec. The peak grows above the Sleme plateau below the northern wall of Mala Mojstrovka. It falls into Tamar and Mala Pišnica in steep slopes and walls. Due to its unique panorama, which is especially adorned by the bold and beautifully designed Jalovec, the Slemen area is famous as one of the most remarkable viewpoints not only in our Alpine world.

We did it in October with three kids(7-9-11 years old) - without any hiking experience - it was not easy but doable! ;-) and it was worth it!

Easy climb. Take the stamp pad with you, the bent tubes on the summit are stamp templates.

5월 2, 2021, Triglav Summit and Aljaž Tower
The Aljaž Tower on Triglav was designed and built by Jakob Aljaž (1845-1927), a great patriot, mountain worker, composer, poet and mountain writer, from 1889 until his death the pastor of Dovje. Aljaž bought the land at the top of Triglav for a gold gardener from the municipality of Dovška in order to build a tower on it, which was supposed to be a shelter and lookout point. He made the plan for it himself. He used his money to buy an iron frame, thick galvanized iron sheet and screws. He hired six strong porters and they carried the material from the valley to the top within a week. The tower was built by Aljaž's childhood friend, tinsmith Anton Belec from Šentvid, who was helped by four assistants. In the tower, he installed 3 cobbler's chairs, 2 blankets, 2 cooking pots with a bottle of spirit, 6 glasses, a barometer, an entry book and a copy of Pernhart's Triglav Panorama around the entire perimeter, and a thermometer on the outside. The tower was initially the property of Jakob Aljaž, but then he left it to the Slovenian Mountaineering Society. It was opened on August 7, 1895. On the same day, the Stanič shelter, an artificial hollow on the south side just below the summit of Triglav, was also opened; it was built by the SPD according to Jakob Aljaž's plan. The shelter is not equipped, it has room for 4 to 6 people. By buying the land and erecting the tower, Aljaž clearly showed the Germans that Triglav is a Slovenian mountain. With this action, he greatly contributed to the realization of the slogan of the founding general meeting of the Slovenian Mountaineering Association: "To preserve the Slovenian face of the Slovenian mountains." The Aljaž tower has been standing for more than 100 years. Together with Triglav, it became a symbol of Slovenia. With the aim of preserving the cultural and historical tradition of the Aljažev tower, the Jesenice municipal assembly adopted a decree on June 28, 1990 declaring the Aljažev tower on the top of Triglav a cultural and historical monument. Zavarovalnica Triglav donated a nice table in 1997, which was placed by the Ljubljana Matica Police Department near the Aljažev Tower. The stamp and registration book are safely stored in it. The Aljaž tower provides modest shelter for four to six mountaineers.
