니더 강에서도 '자연 복원'과 관련하여 무언가가 이루어졌다는 것은 정말 멋진 일입니다.

The renaturalization project was only effectively completed at this location in 2025. Before that, it was "nice," but nothing more. Today, at least here, one can get an impression of what the Nidda might originally have looked like. A little further downstream towards Höchst, there is also a more natural stretch – otherwise, unfortunately, it's still a very straightened river, yet still one of the most beautiful sections in Frankfurt.

The Sossenheim Nidda weir is being rebuilt and the Grillsche Nidda oxbow is being included in the flood control system to replace the old barrage. The Nidda cycle path is closed here for this purpose. Now (May 2024) the pedestrian/cycle bridges have been put up (not yet passable). I am already looking forward to their completion, which will significantly improve this section of the Nidda.

The Selzer fountain, designed by the sculptor Franz Schranz in 1939, stands in a clearing in the Niedwald forest. The fountain is made up of large sandstone blocks that are stacked on top of each other and formed into a cuboid. The wide, round fountain basin is designed in steps and can be used as a bench. Today, a thin stream of water flows from a stone spout into a drainage hole that is covered with a grate. In 1927, the Selzer fountain was drilled to a depth of 32.55 meters and the spring was enclosed with a cast-iron standpipe.
