The lake is fed by the Happurger Bach and its left tributary Kainsbach. The Happurg[2] pumped storage power plant of the Fränkisches Überlandwerk, which went into operation in 1958 (which was later taken over by E.ON and today belongs to Uniper), used the lake as a sub-basin. The associated upper basin is on the Deckersberg. The average size of the lake is around 55 hectares. The lake gets its name from the neighboring town of Happurg. It was built by the Nuremberg architect and culture prize winner of the city of Nuremberg Franz Reichel.

The lake is a dream. Many bays around let everyone find their place. Even with a dog 👍🏼👍🏼 Mobile toilet houses were set up in places. At one point is a restaurant with a beer garden. Possibly take water shoes with you as the beach is rocky.
