The two-story, octagonal, pavilion-like tower is enclosed by a four-sided arcade. The lower level features a high window facade on each side and three stone arches, which open onto the two landward sides via wide steps. A spiral staircase decorated with a railing leads outside to the terrace and the upper floor. The sandstone building exhibits a neo-Gothic character, which is also reflected in the interior with its delicate star vaults.

Beautifully situated on the water. It's definitely worth taking a look at the complex from the outside.

The Marble Palace is romantically situated on a terraced complex directly on the lake shore in the New Garden. King Friedrich Wilhelm II had the building clad in Silesian marble built as a summer residence between 1787 and 1793. Its architect Carl von Gontard created the first and only Prussian royal palace in the style of early classicism. The king, who was artistically inclined and associated with the ideas of the Rosicrucians, used the palace and garden as a private retreat. Ice cellar as a pyramid Friedrich Wilhelm II belonged to a Masonic lodge and to the more mystically oriented secret society of the Rosicrucians. Some of the buildings in the New Garden reflect the meaning of Freemasonry. The castle kitchen was built as a half-sunken temple, the ice cellar as a pyramid and the library in the Gothic style. The architecture was not related to the actual purpose. Carl Gotthard Langhans and Andreas Ludwig Krüger created these functional buildings taken from another time. The ice cellar, built in 1791/92 as a pyramid on the north line of sight of the Marble Palace, was used to keep food fresh. In winter, ice was taken from the nearby Holy Lake and stored on the lowest floor of the basement, which went about 5 meters into the ground. Marble Palace The Marble Palace in the New Garden in Potsdam was the summer palace of King Frederick William II of Prussia.
