In 1900, the chapel became a parish church, the rectory was built, and the House of Habsburg assumed patronage for the next 100 years. In 1924, Bärnkopf became an independent parish. On August 15, 1905, Bishop Johannes Baptist Rößler signed the deed of foundation for the parish.

Pedestrians and cyclists are guided to the riverside path on the other side of the Danube via a multi-storey 204 m long spiral. The Schlesingerteich has a size of approx. 5.5 ha and used to be used for the floating of wood. The nearby lumberjack museum in the village (approx. 1 km away) documents the development of the lumberjack village of Bärnkopf. At the Schlesingerteich there is a sunbathing lawn (no entry), toilet, changing rooms, beach volleyball court, fitness course and kiosk (open when the pool is open) [waldviertel.at]

Attention: The board of the life path and the Yspertal-Weitental circular hiking trail no. 22 does not point down to the pond but goes over it, but according to the map the path goes past the pond below. In general, the signage in the Dorfstetten area is somewhat inadequate and is not always self-explanatory :-(
