In the Adorf district, a wayside cross commemorates a bloody deed. Here, a miller is said to have been murdered by several farmers in the 15th century. The miller wanted to build a so-called compulsory mill, forcing all farmers in the village and surrounding area to grind their grain there. Their anger erupted, and the miller and his family were killed near a village meadow. To prevent anyone from being accused of the crime, each person present took a blow. As penance, the farmers were obligated to erect a stone cross at the site of the murder. This cross gave the meadow its name – Kreuzwiese (Cross Meadow). Today, a small shopping center stands on Kreuzwiese. The cross is located above the village, not far from the main road. It was reconstructed in 2005, based on old drawings, in connection with the village's 850th anniversary celebration.
