The Orthodox Cathedral, dedicated to the "Ascension of the Lord" (Catedrala "Înălțarea Domnului"), is the largest religious building in Târgu Mureș. It was built between 1925 and 1934 according to the plans of the Timișoara architect Victor Vlad in the shape of a Greek cross. The cathedral was consecrated on December 2, 1934. On the walls of the narthex are images of the 17th-century Metropolitan Saints of Transylvania, Ilie Iorest and Sava Brancovici, framed by twelve medallions depicting Transylvania's most important Orthodox churches. The central dome features a stained-glass window depicting Christ blessing the Virgin. The altar features a twelve-meter-high mosaic depicting the Virgin Mary with the Christ Child.

The Deutsch-Weisskirch fortified church is a church of the Evangelical Church of the Augsburg Confession in Romania in Viscri, Brașov County, in the Transylvania region of Romania. The lost Transylvanian Saxon village. Beautifully surrounded by wooded hills, with some stunning medieval buildings which have been carefully and painstakingly restored.

Saschiz is a traditional Transylvanian Saxon village. The fortified church (Lutheran) is several centuries old. A sight well worth stopping for. Nearby village cafe offering decently priced refreshments and delicious home made cake "lichiu".

The 7 meter high ring wall from the early 16th century was upgraded in the course of the 17th century with battle houses, defense towers and battlement walkways that have been preserved to this day. In more peaceful times, in the middle of the 18th century, the battlement was demolished and a covered gaden was built in its place for the villagers' granaries. The interior of the church is now plainly furnished with a coffered ceiling from 1743.

German-Weisskirch, Romanian Viscri, Hungarian Szászfehéregyháza, Transylvanian-Saxon Weisskirich, is located in Braşov district in Transylvania, Romania, about 25 km as the crow flies north of Fogarasch and 29 km south-east of Sighisoara. The fortified church of Deutsch-Weisskirch has stood the test of time as an impressive example of Transylvanian military architecture. The church was built on the foundations of the Romanesque church of a Szekler settlement. Around 1500 the church was converted into a fortified church. The church hall was connected to the previously free-standing residential tower of a family of counts who had probably died out or emigrated early on. The tower was increased by a defense floor and in the roof it received an additional sixth floor for archers. The church also had a fortified storey, which was, however, removed again in 1743.

The outer ring walls and three defense towers have been preserved from the fortifications of the 15th and 16th centuries. The inner wall was demolished in the 19th century, but is clearly visible from the exposed foundations. The fortified church was build in XIII. It is very well maintained and a place that is worth a visit if you are nearby. It's beautiful and the surroundings are fantastic. In 1999 the church has been declared a UNESCO world heritage.
