Beautiful open-air museum with several old wooden houses, but only open in summer.

Every year, the “Amundsen Mid Scandinavian Sled Dog Race”, an international sled dog race, starts directly in front of the open-air museum, in which teams compete with each other over distances of 180 and 350 kilometers.

The "Kafé Tomten" offers good food and coffee in an authentic setting. It is recommended by the “Food Academy in Jämtland”.

The six meter high statue of “Jätten Jorm” welcomes all visitors to the Hembygdsgård open-air museum. The giant Jorm is a fairytale character from the animated film “Dunderklumpen” by Beppe Wolgers and Per Åhlin, which made the area famous throughout the country. In 1974 her image was placed in the local museum.

Strömsunds Hembygdsgård (Strömsund Farmstead) is an open-air museum, centrally and beautifully located on the banks of the Vattudalen valley in Strömsund. Here, the history of the area is presented through around thirty different buildings, with exhibits and installations from the past. Information can be accessed via QR codes on the buildings. Open during the winter as well.
