Beautiful open-air museum with several old wooden houses, but only open in summer.

Every year, the “Amundsen Mid Scandinavian Sled Dog Race”, an international sled dog race, starts directly in front of the open-air museum, in which teams compete with each other over distances of 180 and 350 kilometers.

Once the first house on the square, the "Grand Hotell" is now quite run down. Some travelers describe it as “scary”, others are happy about the cheapest place to stay in Strömsund. There are no staff here. You get a code for the hotel and room door.

3,700 of the approximately 11,400 inhabitants of the municipality of Strömsund live in Strömsund, which extends over a huge area with a population density of one inhabitant per square kilometer. The municipality, which is one of the larger municipalities in Sweden, extends approximately 170 kilometers along the Ströms Vattudal lake system on the upper reaches of the Faxälven to the northwest to the Norwegian border. The northwestern part of the municipality lies in the Scandinavian Mountains, while the southeastern part lies in the foreland characterized by lakes.

The Strömsund tourist information office is located in the Folkets hus at Ramselevägen 6, right next to the Hotell Nordica.

The old main square of the city is now located directly on Europastraße 45. There is a small fountain and a few benches to relax. An artist has immortalized the Strömsundsbron on tiles on the facade of a building facing the square.

The town's first church was built in the 14th century. It stood on the lake, just below the current church. It was demolished in 1885, after the Evangelical Lutheran congregation had already moved to the current church, consecrated in 1847.
