The Church of Santa Maria del Sasso is situated on a mountain terrace on the lower southern slope of the 822 m high Monte Arbostora, high above the old town of Morcote and on its western edge. Above the old town, a paved, stepped path runs east-west, offering beautiful views of the old town and Lake Lugano with its surrounding mountains. A north-south Stations of the Cross, a stairway with 400 stone steps, leads steeply up to the church and down to the lake, also offering magnificent views of the stairway itself, with a small chapel halfway up, the old town, and the lake and mountains. The church impresses with its ancient frescoes, a magnificent main altar, fascinating wall paintings, and an old organ. The viewing terrace near the church offers magnificent views.

The park stretches along the upper slopes of the 835-meter-high Monte Pescia, extending considerably in length and height over approximately 200,000 square meters. It offers a wealth of flowers, shrubs, and trees, as well as a wealth of art objects. In addition, there are repeated magnificent views of Lake Lugano and the opposite mountain ranges to the east, with Monte Generoso as the highest peak. To the west, there are magnificent views of the Valais Alps, including the Monte Rosa massif.
