Iconic climb. Prepare for a very long climb. The downhill sections in between are especially mentally demanding.

Steady road climb up to the telecabine at Oz Station. It's 7.6km in length with 10 hairpin bends and has an average gradient of 7%. The steepest sections are near the bottom and around 2km from the top where it tops out at 14% but not for very long. The climb starts as soon as you take the right turn off the D526 at Lac du Verney. On a hot day it's best to do the climb in the morning before the full sun of the afternoon hits it as there's not much shade as you climb higher up. It's quite a quiet climb as it's not a through road. There's also a little cafe at the top near the telecabine

This Himalayan footbridge, which crosses Lake Verney from the north, adds a touch of spice to the tour of the lake. The views of the lake and the mountains are delightful.

Lake Verney is a 75-hectare artificial reservoir nestled between the Belledonne and Grandes Rousses mountain ranges. Near the hamlet and Boulangeard stream, the view of the lake is superb.

Stunning but difficult climb, it's better not to overdo it at the bottom to avoid running out of energy at the top. From the artificial lake of Grand'Maison the main difficulties are behind us and it is like diving into a postcard.
