Very amphibious...it's amazing what you don't see every day.

We begin the last day of the year with a hike. We're heading to Brandenburg, to the Barnim region. We start in Prenden. It began snowing this morning, quickly transforming everything into a winter wonderland. The sky is gray, the wind is cold, and after just a few meters, we reach the edge of the village and enter the forest. The snow crunches underfoot with every step. Lake Bauersee lies peacefully beneath a thin layer of ice, covered in snow. All around us is still. We continue along the path by the water, the tree stumps jutting out like ghosts. What's the point of always talking about a nudist beach here, as if it were officially a given or even a requirement? It's simply a habit here, an old tradition, so to speak, and is practiced almost everywhere anyway.

Dating from around the 17th century, it is considerably more impressive than the churches in the neighboring villages. The church stands somewhat off the road, but is still clearly visible.

The last village before the canal, picturesquely situated, no traffic

The hall church was built of brick in 1913 according to a design by Georg Büttner in the 13th-century architectural style. It consists of a nave with arched windows along the walls and dormers in the gable roof, a square roof tower set into the nave to the west, decorated with a blind arch and covered with a slate-covered Italian dome, an apse to the east, the width of which is the same as the nave, and a sacristy on the north wall of the nave. The top floor of the roof tower houses the bell cage behind the arcades.

At this point, the forest road from Prenden to Marienwerder crosses the Pregnitzfließ, whose outflow from the Eisbuder See is just a few meters further west.
