From the Rote Spitze summit you have a great view of Lake Traualpsee.

The Rote Spitze is a 2,130 m high mountain in the Vilsalpsee Mountains group of the Allgäu Alps in Tyrol. It lies in front of the ridge and thus rises amidst the summits of the Alplsee and Traualpsee lakes.

The Steinkarspitze (also Steinkarlspitze) is a 2067 m above sea level high subsidiary peak of the Rote Spitze in the Allgäu Alps.

A small summit that's worth climbing. Great views in all directions.

A small peak with a fantastic 360° view. A bit of a scramble on the last few meters, but otherwise not difficult. Thanks to its more famous neighbor, Lachenspitze. Not as busy.

For the climb from the south: sure-footedness and a head for heights are mandatory here. There is a lot of scrambling to master, the technical difficulties are limited (should not go beyond UIAA I). The challenge is more the surface, a lot of scree and gravel are the order of the day here. You should also not underestimate the distance that you have to cover from the Krottenkopfscharte. The times given are largely correct or can only be slightly beaten. Once you reach the top you will be rewarded with a wonderful view. Since the summit is a bit out of the way, there is significantly less going on there than at other peaks, but you are still rarely alone.

We approached from the back via a lovely, grassy ridge. Would recommend taking the grassy route or route to the saddle between Steinkarspitze and Lachenspitze back unless you fancy a very steep scree slope down to the saddle before the approach to Rote Spitze.
