The Nepomuk Chapel in Wels is a venerable example of Baroque architecture and a significant piece of cultural heritage, honoring Saint John of Nepomuk. Thalheim Air Raid Shelter near Wels In the Reinberg valley near Thalheim near Wels, tunnels were built very late to serve as air raid shelters for Wels businesses and the local population. Documented construction work only began in January 1945. Construction of the first tunnel began on January 15, 1945, by the company Ferro-Betonit-Werke AG. The first air raid hit the city on May 30, 1944, claiming the lives of many residents.
