Circular route around the Pätz lakes The circular route around the Pätzer Vordersee and Hintersee is a little over 16 kilometers long. It's a trail for all seasons. The start and finish is at the train station “Bestensee”. The path leads along the main road fromBestensee to Pätzer Vordersee and on to Pätz with its historic village green. The place name comes from the Slavic and means something like sand. From here we continue into pure nature! A hundred years ago, the hillsides on the east bank of the Pätzer Hintersee were almost free of forest. A few junipers bear witness to the sparse heathland that once existed here. The lowlands with wet meadows are preserved with the support of landscape conservation. On the southern shore of the Pätzer Hintersee there are large moor areas that have been secured as a nature reserve. The path now leads north. An idiosyncratic pine forest with crooked trees is called Schweinewinkel. This is where the pigs used to be driven into the forest to the Waldwiede. Walking through the Pätz Hintersee settlement, you return to the starting point at the train station. Source https://www.dahme-heideseen-naturpark.de/themen/routen-touren/rundweg-um-die-paetzer-seen/

A great resting place - here you have a wonderful view of the lake and there is a bench and table - I like to wake up here in the very early morning.

I can only agree with many here. Cycling is no fun here. Especially when there are (once again) traffic jams or construction sites on the motorway. A normal country road is sometimes even less dangerous because it is at least wider. So you either have cars and trucks (!) overtaking without a gap, or you have them breathing down your neck because they kindly wait for the next turnaround. The section is also narrower than the Hofjagdweg from Märkisch Buchholz to Groß Wasserburg, which is also open to mixed traffic. Relaxed cycling is not really possible here. That's really a shame, because the path makes a difference in terms of landscape. Should the county urgently change. Especially if this was built as an expansion of the cycling infrastructure... Experience 03/2022: On a Sunday in spring without any disruption on the Autobahn, it was actually very nice to drive this way. Only on the part ofBestenseer Straße - B246 is there always a lot of (reckless) car traffic. It is sad that this is already positive and unfortunately this is still the exception... The bicycle road with appropriate protection is really desirable and urgent.

There is currently even a warning about the Hofjagdweg: "Due to construction work, there is increased traffic on the Hofjagdweg on the section between the Krummensee exit and Groß Köris entrance. The narrow width of the road does not allow the prescribed minimum distance between cars and cyclists Driving on the section, especially with children, is strongly discouraged until further notice! There is currently a lot of traffic due to surrounding construction sites. It is even officially advised against using the path as a cyclist. https://www.dahme-heideseen-naturpark.de/themen/routen-touren/radroute-hofjagdweg/ (As of November 6, 2020)

The 461 hectare FFH area Pätzer Hintersee corresponds in its delimitation to the NSG of the same name except for small deviations in the east. It is located southeast of Bestensee and southwest of Pätz. In the west, the protected area borders on the Berlin-Cottbus railway line. The protected area includes the entire water and bank silting moor area of the Pätzer Hintersee with extensive lowland forests, intermediate moorland and reed beds. In the south there is the Merkhorst, an elevation planted with mixed deciduous forest. In the peripheral areas there are extensively used grassland areas. In the transition area from the grassland lowlands to the wooded slopes as well as on individual small knolls there are small sand dry lawns and dry edges. The core areas of the protected area include the lime-rich silting moor areas with small sedge and flat moor meadows that adjoin the water and reed areas of the Hintersee in the southwest. Willow bushes form the transition areas between the silting bog areas and the wet meadows. Formations of rich to poor wet meadow areas alternate with tall herbaceous areas.

That is the "Pätzer Hintersee". Unfortunately, the fishing facility's catering is only open to a limited extent. The rest area with several benches and the whole place is beautiful.

Once the first paved bike path in Brandenburg which has been running through the forest since 2014. That is why this passage always remains something historically special for me. Unfortunately, this passage was opened to car traffic in 2016. Reason: The passage would no longer be used by cycling. Since then it has been tight for cyclists. No more driving experience. 🤬

The problem with the Hofjagdweg is that it has become a car road since it was paved, even if small green signs, rather signs, are occasionally set up, but very few car drivers can see this at their speeds. Too bad, at least a label as a bicycle road would be helpful. More information: https://www.dahme-heideseen-naturpark.de/themen/routen-touren/radroute-hofjagdweg/

The route between Krummensee and Klein Köris was once expanded and paved with EU funds as a bike path. Later, cars were suddenly allowed to drive there. Tempo 30 signs were put up. They were then removed and now everyone can shoot there as long as they like. The cyclist is now fair game. I have already experienced bad things on the farm hunting trail.
