하팅겐의 두 번째 역사적인 중심지에는 그림 같은 마르크트 광장을 중심으로 목조 주택과 오래된 관공서 건물이 모여 있으며, 그 광장의 자랑거리인 시립 박물관이 있습니다. 바로 맞은편에는 갤러리 클라이네 아페어(Galerie Kleine Affäre)와 포스트만스(Forstmanns)가 전시회, 낭독회, 콘서트를 통해 마을에 활기를 불어넣고 있습니다. 시립 박물관 바로 뒤에는 1808년에 언덕 꼭대기에 조성된 게트만 풍경 정원(Gethmannsche Landschaftsgarten)이 그늘진 나뭇잎 아래에서 산책을 즐길 수 있도록 초대합니다. 공원의 하이라이트는 루르 계곡(Ruhrhang)의 전망대 벨베데레(Belvedere)로, 루르 계곡(Ruhrtal)의 웅장한 전망을 감상할 수 있습니다. 블랑켄슈타인 크리스마스 마켓(Blankensteiner Weihnachtsmarkt)은 전통과 멋이 있는 시장입니다. 7월에 열리는 버터브로트 마켓(Butterbrotmarkt)에서는 현지 및 지역 특산물을 판매합니다.

Wetter Castle ruins stand majestically on a hill overlooking Lake Harkort and are among the most historically significant castles in the Ruhr Valley. Their origins date back to the 13th century, when they were built by the Counts of the Mark as a fortified residence. Parts of the medieval structure are still visible today – including the keep, remains of residential buildings, and sections of the curtain wall. Over the centuries, the castle experienced turbulent times: During the Soest Feud (1444–1449), it was besieged and severely damaged. From the 18th century onward, it fell into increasing disrepair until it took on a surprising new role in the 19th century. In 1819, Friedrich Harkort, one of the pioneers of industrialization in the Ruhr region, established one of the region's first machine factories in the ruins – a milestone in early industrial history. Today, the castle ruins are a popular hiking destination with impressive views of Lake Harkort and the Ruhr Valley. Visitors appreciate the blend of nature, history, and panoramic views.
