The Bietschtal Bridge 🌉 is an impressive engineering structure along the Lötschberg south ramp. It spans the Bietschtal at a height of 78 meters and offers spectacular views of the valley and the surrounding Alps 🏔️. The path to the bridge usually starts from Ausserberg train station 🚉 and leads through picturesque landscapes and historic Suonen (irrigation channels) 🌿. The hike is about 2 hours long and of moderate difficulty.

A classic Swiss Alpine mountain cabin, with an equally classic view. The hut is a great place to take a coffee and cake break during a bike ride, or to enjoy something refreshing after a long day in the mountains. The cabin offers food, drinks and accommodation, allowing you to extend the adventure for a day if you don't want it to end so soon. The Üssre Barrhorn is easy to climb from the Turtmann side. Summit area steep but not exposed. From the Topalihütte you have to cross a small glacier and overcome a short, but rockfall-prone via ferrata. A head for heights and basic alpine knowledge/equipment are required here.

The Barrhorn 3610m is a fantastic summit to fully enjoy the panoramic view when the weather is nice and let it work on you. I recommend starting earlier as the summit is very popular and around lunchtime it can get crowded.

The hut is only open in summer from the end of June to mid-September (closed from April to December 2021 for renovation). The hut offers a good view of the Val d’Anniviers with the villages of Grimentz and Vercorin on the opposite side of the valley and of the wide Rhône valley to the west.
