    The Bietschtalbrücke is a railway bridge of the Lötschbergbahn (BLS) on the so-called southern ramp. It spans the Bietschbach gorge at a height of 78 meters and is 136 meters long. The steel bridge was built between 1910 and 1913, the steel parts were only connected with rivets, not welded. Technically, mastering the forces in the curved track layout (radius 300 meters) with simultaneous incline was particularly demanding.

    On the Südrampenweg, the bridge can be crossed on a side footbridge, a shorter route variant. The circumnavigation on the slightly longer path that leads further into the gorge (Via Alpina route) is particularly impressive, but requires a minimum of surefootedness and a head for heights.

      The Bietschtalbrücke is certainly another highlight of the hike. You can see very nicely how they torment the heavy freight trains up the 28 ‰ steep ramp. Unfortunately, the express trains have disappeared since the tunnel existed. Unfortunately, the sequence of trains is no longer so close.

                  The Bietschtal Bridge 🌉 is an impressive engineering structure along the Lötschberg south ramp. It spans the Bietschtal at a height of 78 meters and offers spectacular views of the valley and the surrounding Alps 🏔️. The path to the bridge usually starts from Ausserberg train station 🚉 and leads through picturesque landscapes and historic Suonen (irrigation channels) 🌿. The hike is about 2 hours long and of moderate difficulty.
